Earthbound!!! Still go back and play it sometimes on my phone. I also liked xenogears but never finished it cuz I lost it in a move. I played a bit of mother 3 on my phone in an emulator. The beginning takes a while I'll say but I didn't get to go too far into though.

Bought the collector's edition of Unicorn Overlord, my first ever collector's edition but it came with a card game. I wasnt making the same mistake I made with Odin Sphere.

no Shining Force, no Vagrant Story, no Witcher, no Golden Sun, no Dragon Age, no Secret of Mana....but that's as much as one can squeeze in 50 spots i guess 😅

At that point it is more than a collection, it is a repository worth of being at a library / institute / museum.

My favorites would be Odin sphere, ys orgins, ff7 crisis core, star ocean first departure and fallout 2

My fav rpgs: octopath traveler 2, lufia 2, T.i.m.e: illusion of gaia , secret of mana, zelda (ocorina of time, link to the past, majoras mask and the windmaker), tales of symphonia, breath of fire 2 and and ff2

Im 51 and can relate to all of this. I do find time -or my perception of- passes quicker the more I age. I am much more conservative and set in my ways. I reflect back often and worry about the future, as I’m single with no children so I have to take good care of myself physically. But I still find time to play games both old and new, and enjoy them.

I disagree 100% with zelda games they are just awful no story nothing exciting about them if i want open world on switch I have skyrim

SMT V is nuts. Especially the OST, which alone makes it an absolute god tier game (no pun intended).

It's funny that the original Xbox 360 version and PS3 version of Skyrim plays better than any of the remastered/port that they have released since??? Not only do they play better but you can knock an arrow back, much smoother and quicker in the original game, whereas in the newer game, there is a slight bit of delay that causes you to sometimes fire a dud?!?! It's ridiculous- but never mind that, you could run faster and had better control over your character in the original version just like Grandtheft auto auto five that also all the cars controlled better in the 360 original and PS3 original version of the game. Whereas in the new versions all the cars feel floaty?(all the other vehicles, such as dump trucks, boats, airplanes, helicopters, and all of that including motorcycles still handle pretty much the same but the "auto "of the game referring to the cars, that's what they screwed up of course...)

I also got an Xbox 360 for the game oblivion and fell in love with everything RPG from that point forward!!! Before I just dabble in RPG... I used to tell people that oblivion was my favorite game of all time and I would refer to it as the "Bible of games" due to the fact that every time I played it, I discovered something new ?!?! I was in my early 20s when it came out and so all the special place in my heart! I may still claim that it is my favorite RPG of all time(fallout three and new Vegas is in there also) these days, I would give it to the Witcher three because the Witcher three gave the same grand sense of adventure, but with the better everything as well as a side game called Gwent, that is easy to learn but difficult to master and absolutely Fun in and of itself!! But oblivion did it first for me!! I still wish they would remake that game with modern day graphics and I would absolutely dive back in in a heartbeat... getting all the achievement at least PlayStation would've at least added trophies like it claims on the back of the greatest hits version?!?!

I would agree with damn near every game on this list, maybe even every game on this list but I would argue a very special place on the list. Should absolutely be reserved for the Witcher three wild hunt!!!! In my opinion, I was just young enough to be able to get in on that game and experience the greatness of it before I got too old and would overlook it, or think it was cheesy or some other reason for not playing it?! The truth of the matter is, it is one of the greatest RPG games of all time in terms of graphics, voice acting, story, depth, everything about the game is amazing and the adventure starts and it never lets up until you've made it through everything in the game !!! I've never experienced it except for days gone because that game was also very fun although it does not have the same narrative nor cinematic quality that the Witcher three possesses, they are both great games nonetheless ..

morrowind up to skyrim were ok if you never came in touch with ultima 9 or gothic. both were ground breaking at their time: voiced, interesting open world design, no loading times, living npcs. and then there came gothic 2. and bethesda, well....still got loading screens like in the 90s.

I honestly like the look of these games from Falcom’s engine much more than all these pseudo- realistic looking games we see all the time nowadays.

I love Parasite Eve. So much so that I have the main piano theme as my ringtone. I believe the Parasite Eve book gets referenced in the video game and it technically makes the events in the book a prequel story to the game's main storyline. I also enjoyed the movie, despite its low budget cheesy horror vibes. I got the soundtrack box set for Parasite Eve 1 and 2. The music is some of my favorite in video games. Plus, I recently scored the Parasite Eve 'action dolls'. I've been trying to get them for over half a decade! They are not easy to find and not cheap either. I hope they do remaster/remake the first game someday.

Mine would include most of the Trails franchise. Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Tales of Vesperia, and especially Tales of Berseria. FF10, FF13, FF4 and FF6. KOTOR. I try to keep it to story focused RPGs....there are a metric ton of games categorized as RPG which I never really think of in that light. Nioh 2 is my second favorite game of all time and its considered to be an RPG...yet I couldn't give a crap about its story.

Wild Arms 1... still remember those days, the sound track stuck with me. With PS1's sound quality, we were all used to SNES sound quality and suddenly, we had CD quality sound, with some anime. None of my friends played this one, because they were all busy with the graphically superior FF7, but I kinda loved Wild Arms, all that alien Mother thing, and she kinda eats the bad guy we thought we'd face... then that surprise towards the end... and one of those gigantic robots developing emotions etc... I just loved the first Wild Arms along with the first Suikoden (second is cited as the best), just that no one in my group was playing those due to the 'poor' graphics. I just loved it, with Suikoden 2, still remember that I had aced my exams and the folks just let me play Suikoden 2 on the PS... haha Luca Blight kicking my butt, I was stunned that we had him cornered and all my choice characters were being wiped left and right... haha those were the days. You're lucky to have a wife who shares this interest with you! Would have been fun to play games together when you're free!
